WINNERS SHOP FOR WINNERS
More than a century ago, our great-grandfather arrived in the United States, carrying with him not just dreams but also his name that symbolized victory — Haghtanak. In his new home, he translated that name into English and became known as Winner. And true to his name, he quickly became a pioneer in luxury furniture, opening his first store in Michigan.
He had a remarkable eye for beauty and innovation. He built direct relationships with international manufacturers and began importing the most elegant and cutting-edge furniture designs of the era. It didn’t take long before his store became a destination — a place visited by prominent journalists, celebrated musicians, artists, and even a U.S. Vice President.
His philosophy was simple but powerful:
“Designs no one else has. Prices no one can match.”
Newspaper clippings from that time — lovingly preserved by our family — tell the story of a man whose shop was more than a store. It was a trendsetter’s paradise, a hub of style, and a proud reflection of his taste and tenacity.
As demand grew, he expanded his business across the United States and into Canada. But history took a tragic turn. When World War I broke out and the U.S. entered the war, our great-grandfather made a life-changing decision: he closed all his stores and volunteered to fight.
His dream was to see his ancestral homeland, Armenia, freed—and he hoped to be one of its liberators. Sadly, that dream never came true. He was killed in battle, and with his loss, the family eventually sold off the stores he had built.
But his spirit never left us.
Today, generations later, we — the heirs of the Haghtanak-Winner legacy — have come together to honor his vision in a new way: by offering exceptional luxury furniture online.
Our mission is to bring you the same values he stood for:
